Training & Behavior

Positive reinforcement training from the moment you get your new furry friend home will help keep everyone happy and safe. The transition to a new environment can be stressful for any pet and it can take months for you to see the true personality of your new companion. Training can help make the transition smoother and make sure you are communicating clearly as your pet settles into their new home.

Dogs

Good Pup

We partner with GoodPup, the nation's leading dog training service over live 1-on-1 video chat. Every WCHS clinic client or adopter is eligible for 1 FREE week of training + 20% Off for Life. GoodPup will make a generous donation for every WCHS client who signs up after the first free week.

Training is essential to building a bond with your dog. And, it's easier, more enjoyable, and more effective when done in the dog’s home with its owner. GoodPup provides private training with certified trainers who teach cues and advanced behavior on topics like crate training, barking, begging and jumping.

Cats

We all know cats are not dogs, but many people don’t realize you can train cats. Call 254-2232 for advice on cat behavior from Keri Roberts, Director of Operations. Often times, cat issues are based in a health problem. We may recommend scheduling a visit with our veterinarian for a health exam and diagnostic tests.
